Counselling & Consulting
There are no strangers here;
Only friends you haven't yet met.
-- William Butler Yeats (1865 - 1938)
Sometimes one can feel frightened and alone while the strain of seemingly insurmountable obstacles take a stranglehold upon one's life. During such times establishing a meaningful connection with others who truly understand what you are going through can help. I greatly enjoy group work and am well versed in group dynamics and able to create a warm, safe and trusting environment that will be conducive to your healing process.
Group counselling may not be appropriate in certain situations; however, many individuals have found this form of psychotherapy to be most liberating and affirming. Group counselling has proved to be advantageous for individuals suffering from a variety of conditions, such as trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Group counselling can help if you are experiencing distress or are having difficulty functioning in social, occupational or other important areas of your life.
Group counselling is a powerful, cost-effective and widely used form of psychotherapy. Indeed, an impressive body of outcome research attests to its effectiveness and indicates that group counselling is comparable to individual psychotherapy in terms of its enduring and beneficial effects upon clients. Group counselling may be used in tandem with individual counselling, or it may be undertaken as the sole means for effecting therapeutic change.
I understand that reaching out to a counsellor may seem like a daunting task. If you are thinking about group counselling I encourage you to schedule an initial appointment to see if my style is compatible with you. During our initial meeting I will outline the process of counselling and discuss limits of confidentiality. To expedite matters, kindly download and complete the intake package by clicking the "Download Intake Package" button (located right). If you wish, you may also upload your completed Intake Package by clicking on the "Upload Intake Package" button (located on the "Contact Us" page). Please note that a new group can be formed only if a minimum of four individuals express an interest in group counselling.
